Skeleton Closet: Smoke, Mirrors and Scissors

I have a gift.

This gift isn't particularly significant, and it's worth exactly a few laughs and maybe the occasional look of befuddlement.
I appear years younger than I really am, and I can exaggerate it with the slightest change in my general appearance.

A few days ago I had a bash to alter something on me a little more permanent than changing the way I do my makeup.

I cut my own hair. My fringe to be specific.

This was a rather momentous occasion for me, considering I haven't ever personally held a pair of scissors near a single lock with an inkling of intention. Why? Because I used to know better, and left it to someone who had better vision than I.

That day, I was feeling more than a little confident in my own abilities and desire for some tangible change.
Well, I'm not saying I hate it nor that I don't like it... but my colleagues and I agree that it has made me look exponentially younger than I already do. Ah well, might as well go with it.

What I am wearing:
  • Top: Secondhand
  • Suspender vest: Ebay
  • Skirt: Self made
  • Shoes: Amazon
  • Rosary: Self made

  1. It's true, with that goth lolita look and hair band you do look younger. Then again, I think I remember you being young as is, so why not? :)

  2. I think it looks great! There's nothing wrong with doing your own hair, I have never been to a hair dressers in my life and always used to cut my own fringe :) if you can get away with it, then totally do it!

    1. Well, in all honesty I had my husband by my side coaching me if I was lopsided or not... so that helped lol.
I haven't ever been to a salon either, my mother did the trimming before this point and since I don't live anywhere near her anymore, I had to be brave and do it myself =P

    1. They meant it in good jest, hehe-- I laugh about it myself at times.
      Thank you!

  4. You look fantastic! You really pulled off the fringe, and you got it right, you didn't mess it up, I have trimmed it myself a couple of times, mostly disastrous!

People often think I am younger too. Back at my old job people used to ask me why I wasn't at school, and I was in my early twenties then.

    1. I went so slowly cutting in lol... I think I annoyed my husband too by making him stand by me to make sure I wasn't lopsided anywhere.

I get that comment a lot, too-- that's when I get the most laughs lol.
I once volunteered for a wet lab, and everyone questioned the lead officer whether they were making a minor drink. Later the group of officers laughed and told me I should get a job to infiltrate high schools and find the drug dealers lol.

  5. I love it!
There's nothing wrong in looking young. My boyfriend once told me something like: "I will have time to look old, so I'm going to show-off my baby-face proudly"
    :)

  7. Ah, I had a fringe for years as a child, but gave it up on hitting my teens. I'd be tempted to get one again, but I'm not sure if I would suit it as well as you any more. I love the suspender belt, by the way!

  8. Bangs are cheaper than Botox. Of course, you don't need that. >furrowing brow majestically<

  9. The fringe turned out great! You do look younger, embrace it and you will have no problem with ageing as you will look 10 years younger in your 50's :)
